Admissions Requirements

Minimum Academic Requirement

  • Four year undergraduate Bachelors degree
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.33 (B) in final half of program

Statement of Intent

You are required to submit a brief statement (about 500 words) that should address the following:

  • Your reasons for choosing graduate study in fashion
  • The area of fashion research you would like to pursue
  • How your previous studies and background have prepared you for the program 

CV

Please submit an updated curriculum vitae noting your education, work experience, skills, career achievements, awards and publications, and highlight how your previous studies and experiences have prepared you for graduate study at Ryerson University.

Letters of Recommendation

Two Letters of Recommendation are required for each application. At least one of which must be academic – former professors or research supervisors familiar with applicant’s abilities. One recommendation may be substituted with a professional letter from a previous employer.

Writing Sample (Mandatory)

Please submit 1 sample of writing (10-15 pages) that best represents your ability to conduct in-depth academic research.  

Portfolio (OPTIONAL)

If it strengthens your application, a portfolio of your own creative work can be submitted to augment your application. It must be submitted online in PDF format with a statement of authorship form available here:

We no longer accept portfolios if they are mailed or brought directly to the university.  If you do not have a portfolio, please upload a document stating this in place of the portfolio. Please note, either a portfolio or a document stating you don't have a portfolio must be submitted with your application for it to be considered complete.
